Preparing for Corporate Prayer

Steps to take to prepare yourself to encounter God:
1.       Renew your mind in the Word of God: It is vital to keep our thoughts and mind aligned with the life-giving Word of God. God wants to encourage and empower, the enemy wants to keep you discouraged, critical and isolated.  When challenges arise, determine to cling to the Word of God.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Rom 12:2
2.       Ask the Lord to reveal anything in you that would hinder you from His Presence. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Heb 12:1-2; Kindness of the Lord leads us to repentance Rom 2:4; No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 2 Tim 2:4
3.       Make efforts to reconcile with those you need reconciliation with. Ask for humility, grace, favor, strategy, timing to reconcile with anyone you may have had difficulties with. Wounding in the body of Christ needs healing…may we be instruments of His healing touch. Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Mt. 5:23-24  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  1 John 3:16
4.       Pray for the zeal of the Lord to breakthrough any complacency, or hindrance from the Lord:   Look down from heaven, and see from Your habitation, holy and glorious. Where are Your zeal and Your strength, the yearning of Your heart and Your mercies toward me?...Oh that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! Is 63:15; Is 64:1
5.       Pray to receive the Spirit’s power and Presence in its fullness: that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,  that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height-- to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Eph 3:16-20
6.       Pray for the love of God to abound in you that you may release grace to others. And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father. 1 Thes 3:13
7.       Pray for release of wisdom and revelation of His Word, dreams, and visions: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe according to the working of His mighty power. Eph 1:17-19 And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. Joel 2:28
8.       Pray for increased faith that God will hear and answer your prayers. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  Heb 11:6
